Short Linux Ramble
I just thought of the best encapsulation of how my Linux journey is going in one simple interaction. I installed Warhammer 40K: Space Marine on windows 11 2 weeks ago, with a generic USB controller plugged in I couldn't get past the home screen. It only recognized the mouse and keyboard. I then installed Bazzite (for unrelated reasons), launched the same game off a USB stick and the controller just worked.
That's the surprising part of all this, the things that I would fear turned out to work better than on Windows. I won't lie, the initial setup was kinda hard, but it took a very short time to set everything up as I like it and now I'm happier than ever. Bazzite is more than worth it, it's made gaming fun again for me, since everything runs well, Alt Tab-ing from any game so far works perfectly, with no games breaking if you return after a while (a common nus since I abhorred for years on Windows).
And the things I don't fear work just as well. All the apps I used on Windows, have a Linux version (something I can't say for my Mac). Everything works just as well, games somehow work better, especially the older ones I enjoy playing.
My system is faster and more enjoyable than ever and is thus being used more than ever. I will spread this gospel and finish my mission of incessantly installing Linux to almost every device I own. Or to them all if Apple fucks MacOS any more. My Linux journey has started my year off well. Can't wait to see what other wonders I discover this year. In the darkness, I find light on my own.
